The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the education space forever. Currently 1.2+ billion children in over 186 countries are out of the classroom and are being homeschooled. There has been a distinctive rise in e-learning which unfortunately is going to be the way forward or the “new normal” in the post Covid world. While the online mode of learning may be effective amongst older children, for pre-primary children it remains a challenge as they most definitely need a structured learning environment with effective engagement that promotes inclusion, personalization and intelligence.

At Gaia we believe that learning must never stop – either inside the classroom or at home. We understand the enormity of the situation and recognize the need of the hour – to adapt and embrace this “new normal” and to ensure that our children never have to compromise on quality of education. Keeping in mind the Government directive as well as the health and safety of our children and staff we have launched Gaia @ Home – a balanced and complementary e-learning program of online and offline learning modules.

• Curriculum is designed to be class/age appropriate, simple, interesting and engaging
• Offline resource material is well complemented with live, online sessions
• In keeping with government health regulations, duration of screen exposure is kept minimal while still providing sufficient face-time with didis/friends to ensure development of essential social skills
• In order to ease the pressure on parents the curriculum is simplified and weekly orientation sessions are conducted to guide them on the effective usage of resource material and other teaching aids
• A quarter on quarter approach ensures that our learning plan is flexible and nimble at all times

Gaia @ Home comprises online sessions on Language Arts, Math & Cognitive Development, complemented by Music & Movement to ensure that children are not seated/glued to their screens for too long. This not only provides for some much-needed physical activity but essentially covers project-themes in a creative manner through music and movement

Way Forward

Our team is closely and constantly monitoring the situation on the ground. We are hoping that things get better over the course of the next few months and accordingly will look to gradually introduce playdates/interactions before we finally get back to school, full time. Fingers crossed!

Considering the volatile nature of the situation right now and the unforeseen times that we are unfortunately witnessing, we urge all our parents to stay connected and share with us your constant feedback, suggestions, reservations or apprehensions.
